On August 20, restaurant Padron will hold a wine dinner where guests can get to know outstanding wines from the Rueda and Ribera del Duero regions. The event starts at 8 p.m. and combines the restaurant's signature cuisine with stories told by the wineries' owner about the traditions and history behind some of Spain's most famous wines. Here, wine isn't just served at the table — it comes with personal stories that reveal each one's uniqueness.

Padron's wine list numbers over 300 labels, half of them Spanish and Portuguese wines. Among them are wines that made Wine Spectator's Top 100. Special attention at the dinner goes to meeting José Luis Villar Bada, heir to a family that's been making wine since the early 20th century. Guests will learn about the founding of the Frutos Villar winery and the growth of the family business across various Spanish wine regions.

The first Frutos Villar winery was founded in 1920 in Toro, and the second in 1960 in Cigales. In 1986, the family expanded production by acquiring Bodega Santa Eulalia in Ribera del Duero, and by 1990 had begun selling wines from the Rueda region. Constant attention to quality, the best vineyard plots, and control at every stage of production have let the estate present wines under four of the nine designations of origin included on Castile and León's wine map.
