French bar Bijou has kicked off its summer season of movie screenings, dedicating it to romantic comedies. The first film in the lineup is "500 Days of Summer," starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. It will screen on Sunday, June 1.

The June film selection was put together by the project's PR manager, Evgenia Baladurina. She assembled a lineup of her favorite rom-coms about summer evenings, parties, and sudden confessions of love. The program is planned for the whole month, with a new screening at the bar every Sunday.

"500 Days of Summer" follows a young man named Tom Hansen. He works at a greeting-card agency. At some point he falls for a coworker and believes she'll turn out to be his true destiny. But the 500 days spent by her side turn into a lesson that changes his view of relationships. The film is nostalgic, ironic, and suits an unhurried summer evening with a glass of wine and a tartare.

For screening night, chef Sergey Vorontsov recommends trying a few newcomers. Two tartares have appeared in the starters section. The first: marbled beef with bone marrow, served right on the bone, priced at 1,250₽. The second: scallop, salmon, and tuna, with an anchovy dressing that makes the flavor punchier. It's rounded out with crispy croutons, priced at 950₽.

For those who prefer a hot dish, a new item has appeared in the main menu section — filet mignon. It's served with pepper sauce and pommes paille, priced at 1,600₽. All dishes can be ordered in advance so they're served by the start of the screening.

The screening starts at eight in the evening, and seats fill up quickly, so it's worth booking a table in advance. The bar recommends doing so at least a day before the event to get a good spot and make sure you get in.

Summer movie nights at Bijou continue all through June, and next Sunday will be a new reason to come by for a glass of wine and a little nostalgia.
