Teatro — Alexander Oganezov's New Project

Bolshaya Nikitskaya has another new resident — restaurant Teatro by Alexander Oganezov (Amy, Muse, Pino). The interior carries the atmosphere of France, and the menu nods to classic French cuisine. You can settle into one of two dining rooms: the first has tables for dates and comfortable sofas for larger groups, the second has intimate booths and a chef's table. If that's not enough, a cozy bar hides at the far end of the second room.

Interior

The interior design was handled by Gosha Aigunyan's studio (Soma, Sol). Thanks to an abundance of warm tones, the space came out cozy and intimate. The walls carry glossy wood panels and paintings by Pavel Pepperstein and Alexander Mogilevsky, while vintage light fixtures add a retro vibe. Looking up at the ceiling, you'll see a fairy-tale mural that harmonizes with Henri Matisse-style cutouts and collages. The final touch is the bright color palette of the floor, tying all the restaurant's zones together.   

Kitchen

Ruslan Polyakov (Amy, Muse, Remy Kitchen Bakery), the longtime chef of Oganezov's projects, runs the kitchen. He gives a modern touch to classic French dishes: truffle camembert, julienne, crab, beef bourguignon, foie gras in a grape leaf. Pastry chef Ilya Zamogilin-Sudzilovsky (Remy, Gentle) creates the desserts: chocolate box, lemon curd, pear sorbet, and mille-feuille. The bread served at the restaurant is brought in straight from Remy Kitchen Bakery.

Bar

France makes its way into the bar menu too, developed by head bartender Vitaly Skripchinsky. As an aperitif — the Bonjour cocktail; a gin-based option — the Orsay cocktail; among the more interesting combinations — the Calypso cocktail, built on pomegranate distillate and mezcal. Sommelier Dmitry Bazashvili, known from Oganezov's other projects, selects the wine pairing at Teatro.
