Pafos — a Two-Story Greek Restaurant

Pafos — a Two-Story Greek Restaurant

By design, the ground floor holds a brasserie, the second — a restaurant area styled like a family villa. The team tried to convey the atmosphere of Greek resorts, and it came out too flashy. To me, it's a concentrate of Greece, where the winks at references and geography pile up too much, making it uncomfortable. The menu tells a similar story. Dishes from antiquity through to today were included, but too literally — I didn't notice any signature adaptations or attempts to do it differently.

What did I try?

Hummus with vegetables — brought as a complimentary starter with pieces of radish and cucumber.

Greek salad, 950₽ — the usual mix of vegetables, olives, and first-class brynza. A decent but not the best version.

Roasted piri kara pepper with goat cheese, 690₽ — looks fairly gastronomic, served with a yogurt dressing, olive oil, and nuts. In flavor — humdrum and unremarkable, wouldn't order it again.

Yogurt flatbread, 250₽ — it was brought only with the peppers, even though I meant it for the salad. That happens if the courses aren't clarified. The flatbread itself turned out barely warm.

Veal souvlaki, 1150₽ — served as a skewer. Slightly dry meat that needed more salt and an extra sauce.

A Greek restaurant in the center of Moscow that feels more like a spot inside a shopping mall somewhere in Dubai. Not much light, but plenty of props — fake books or flowers. Telling that the one live plant is dying from lack of light. A menu concept poorly adapted to local tastes. I wasn't too impressed with the staff, from the hostess to the waiters. Zero follow-up. No enthusiasm, and no desire to come back.
