Vintage aesthetics with lavish chandeliers in the interior, and meat specialties alongside Italian pasta in the kitchen. Breakfast is served from 9:00 to 13:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 15:00 on weekends. The morning menu stands out for its build-your-own combinations, like bratwurst sausages with tomatoes. I didn't expect to see so many people at breakfast in what I'd assumed was an evening-focused restaurant: on a Tuesday morning, more than half the tables were occupied.
What did I try?
• Cappuccino with coconut milk, 280₽ — good coffee with a choice of alternative milk.
• Open sandwich with caviar, 890₽ — such a tiny portion it's almost disappointing. Worthy caviar with green onion and melting butter. Instead of the usual crusty bread, a bun — so I expected more.
• Salmon fritter, 650₽ — a thick mashed-potato fritter that looks more like a cutlet topped with a layer of salmon, roe, and fresh cucumber. Served in bowl-style dishware, so don't expect a conventional presentation. It'll be the opposite: bold and exclusive.
• Financier with caramel, 250₽ — a sponge cake, textured like a canelé, served with different toppings. A tiny portion, enough for dessert but not on its own as breakfast. Perfect for coffee, if nothing else.
Breakfast at Bist will be remembered for fast, attentive service. A surprisingly varied morning menu at a place focused on meat specialties. Pleasant, refined table settings, a welcoming atmosphere. I'll come back again, but for now — I recommend the place for the restaurant guide.
