A new draw has appeared on Petrovka Street in Moscow for those who love quiet, beauty, and Japanese cuisine. Restaurant Fumisawa Sushi has opened a summer veranda made not just cozy, but atmospheric down to the smallest detail — with wood, flowers, and lanterns, like a courtyard in Kyoto. Here you can have lunch or dinner in the shade of blossoming apple and cherry trees, behind a bamboo screen, surrounded by hydrangeas and ivy. None of this is mere decoration — it's a carefully considered concept for a three-tiered space designed for 75 guests, laid out so everyone feels set apart from everyone else. Thanks to this zoning, it's easy to forget you're in the noisy center of the capital.

The terrace was built across three levels, and that's more than just an architectural move. This choice helps create a sense of seclusion and calm even when every seat is taken. Each tier is decorated with attention to detail: red lanterns at the entrance, wood walls, hand-made screens in the Japanese style. It's not decorative stylization but an attempt to convey the very spirit of a Japanese garden — a place where every small detail matters. The interior has a sense of balance: natural textures, soft light, greenery, muted accents, and nothing extraneous.

The culinary side is led by chef Andrey Tsoi. He works with Japanese recipes but puts the emphasis on quality and simplicity of flavor. The menu features both Japanese classics and items adapted with local ingredients. Special attention goes to dessert, overseen by brand pastry chef Anna Lisivets. At the heart of the summer menu section is sweet farm-grown strawberry from Arkady Novikov's estate. It's used not just for the usual desserts but for unexpected dishes too: a soup with vanilla ice cream, semifreddo, Pavlova with matcha cream. The same berry sounds out in different forms and textures — from freshness to caramelized density.

Fumisawa Sushi on Petrovka isn't just about sushi or a city terrace. It's about the feeling of being an arm's length from Japan, even in the very center of Moscow.
