Honeycomb Hi-Fi

Honeycomb HI-FI is an izakaya-style bar with wood paneling, Takumi-style rugs and retro furniture.

It's worth coming here for more than the cocktails or Japanese food — the sound system was designed by the legendary Devon Turnbull.

A record shop greets you at the entrance, leading into the bar space itself. The interior was designed by Serge Becker, creative director and partner at VKD Hospitality, together with New York's Volenec Studio. The design nods to traditional Japanese houses and recording-studio interiors, with the whole space built out of construction-grade plywood.

Careful spot lighting rounds out the atmosphere. You can also settle on the terrace, named "The Garden," a nod to traditional Japanese bamboo gardens. The menu, by chef Matt Abergel, features Japanese hot and cold starters, grilled dishes, noodles and desserts, while the bar menu offers cocktails, wine and beer.
