Atrio Serves a Literary Set for the Petersburg Breakfast Festival

Atrio joins the Petersburg Breakfast festival with a set by Maxim Sharshov: three dishes dedicated to Akhmatova, Chekhov, and Tolstoy.

Until June 18, Atrio is running a special morning menu for the 4th Petersburg Breakfast gastronomic festival. Chef Maxim Sharshov put together a three-course set and tied each dish to a distinct literary image — from Petersburg poetry to estate-house classics.

Here breakfast isn't an illustration for books — it's a gastronomic route through three different registers of Russian classic literature.

The Akhmatova course is millet porridge: pumpkin and linden are added, giving it a soft, slightly sweet, herbal flavor. The dish is built on quiet simplicity — without excess decoration, but with a sense of morning light and stillness that comes through easily in the very idea of a festival breakfast.

The chef expresses the Chekhov line through blini with crucian carp rillette, beurre blanc, and pike caviar: a homestyle format meeting a more refined restaurant presentation. The final course turns to Tolstoy — Anke's lemon pie, a sweet-and-sour dessert tied to the family kitchen of Yasnaya Polyana.

Prices stay modest for a festival format: the porridge and the lemon pie cost 550 rubles each, the blini with rillette 850 rubles. The set is served in the morning at the restaurant on the second floor of the Wawelberg: breakfast runs until 11:00 a.m. on weekdays and until noon on weekends. The program's last day is June 18.
