Subzero is a Moscow restaurant project developed by E. Lunin, E. Lakotkin, A. Beschastny, D. Savinets and P. Fadin. Its concept is built on a contemporary take on Japanese cuisine with European touches, offering simple, accessible dishes. The restaurant sits in a good spot, with a picturesque view of Petrovsky Boulevard from the windows.

On the basement floor is a semi-secret izakaya bar, inspired by Japanese tradition and well suited to unwinding with a strong drink after work.

The interior is done in traditional Japanese minimalism: a cozy half-light lit by red lanterns with kanji characters, a long bar counter and a handful of tables, understated light-wood furniture with dark metal accents and gray concrete walls.

Subzero's menu captures the spirit of a Japanese bistro. At the heart of the concept are popular Asian dishes done in a contemporary style: from sushi and rolls to nigiri and tataki. There are also other well-known delicacies, such as poke, tempura shrimp, soups and salads. The menu includes traditional Japanese boxed lunches — bento. The bar list offers several kinds of Japanese beer and whisky, plus an impressive sake selection and original cocktails.
