A seafood restaurant by the creators of Soma and Billie on Stolyarny Lane. Brand chef Artyom Chudnenko builds the menu around fish and seafood with no regional ties. Dinner: 7 out of 10.
The culinary cluster at the Rassvet House of Culture has grown with the seafood restaurant Mur, a project by a trio of entrepreneurs who already have a solid Moscow portfolio. Oleg Tsoi, Pavel Nits and Mikhail Pugachev, known for Soma and Billie, this time focused entirely on the sea's bounty. The team rebuilt the space on Stolyarny Lane quickly, preserving the existing architecture and reinforcing it with bar energy — intimate, but with character.
Our restaurant guide's team is confident that Mur will truly come into its own in summer thanks to the terrace, and in the evenings you can expect lively parties here — the kind...
Stolyarny Lane got its name from the workshops of the trading house "Muir and Mirrielees," which at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries set the standard for quality and precision. The restaurant's owners took that principle of artisanal perfectionism as the basis for their culinary philosophy. Designer Valeria Sergeeva gave the idea material form: fabric resembling sails hangs from the ceiling, the floor is laid with deck planking, and every guest is handed a handmade shell by jeweler Alexander Karpinsky at the coat check. Sergeeva gathered the furniture at flea markets in three countries — antique wooden chairs from Spain alternate with metal structures, and that contrast sets the visual rhythm for the whole room.
In the kitchen, brand chef Artyom Chudnenko builds the menu with no geographic limits: a tartare served right inside a parrotfish sits alongside Mediterranean sardines, and a bisque brings together four kinds of sea creatures at once. Chudnenko has assembled an impressive lineup of strong dishes, from a spare single-ingredient plate to elaborate compositions with truffle and black caviar. Pastry chef Anastasia Shabunova backs up the sea theme with an unexpected seaweed ice cream topped with black caviar, though classic desserts — tiramisu, Pavlova, walnuts with condensed milk — are on offer too.
Behind the bar, head bartender Bat Tmenov has developed a cocktail collection called "Voice of the Ocean": each drink, whether High Tide or Sea Lullaby, captures a particular state of the water. Sommelier Olga Erokhina has organized the wines by how close the vineyard sits to a body of water: "Big Water" for coasts and islands, "Small Water" for the banks of rivers and lakes. Our secret guests gave the dinner at Mur 7 out of 10 — a confident start for a project aiming at both the culinary and the entertainment niche.
