The second Moscow location of Nothing Fancy has opened in Khamovniki — in the residential quarter on Usacheva. Henri Bert and Steven Sharma, together with brand chef Roman Kiselev, kept the formula of honest smart-comfort food, adding to it a more homey, almost neighborhood character.
Nothing Fancy in Khamovniki isn't just a second location following the success of Petrovka. Henri Bert and Steven Sharma conceived it differently from the start: not a place to introduce people to the brand, but a place people already return to. The café is built into the Sadovye Kvartaly residential complex on Usacheva Street, and it's set up as part of the neighborhood's residential rhythm rather than a venue people specially travel to.
Our restaurant guide's team finds the gluten-free curd casserole, with a fragile caramel crust like a crème brûlée, one of the strongest arguments for breakfast here.
Brand chef Roman Kiselev builds the menu around the concept of smart-comfort: thoughtful food without showy complexity. Breakfast here means millet porridge, green buckwheat with mushrooms and a poached egg, and a miso soup with tofu and kale. The bowls — a Scandinavian one with gravlax salmon and fennel, or the Harvest with wild rice and a nut-and-pumpkin hummus — are built for people who eat mindfully but don't want to think about it at the table. The bar works in the same register: alongside classic coffee are the Oil Coco Raf, Rose Matcha, and functional cold drinks high in protein.
The interior was designed by studio Edxxkat — Eduard Yeremchuk and Katya Pyatitskaya. Two floors and eight-meter ceilings set the scale, but the space doesn't feel overwhelming: the ground floor has the kitchen in view and fast seating, while the second floor has a wide room with sofas, a communal table, and a screen for self-ordering. Concrete carrying markings left over from construction sits alongside warm wood and green velvet. The communal table with colored stained glass is a new element, one absent from the team's earlier projects. Artist Arina Shabanova created a dedicated work for this location — built into the interior rather than hung as an afterthought.

Nothing Fancy in Khamovniki is a café where breakfasts, bowls and smoothies exist not as a trend but as a habit. That, it seems, was the goal from the very start.
