Restaurant EVA on Universitetsky Avenue is a Greek project by Lucky Group, where brand chef Bakhtiyar Shamsiev has gathered the most recognizable dishes from EVA's entire history into one menu.

A wood-fired oven clad in museum-rare antique tiles is the first thing guests see at the entrance. It's not decor for decor's sake: a significant part of the menu is cooked in it and over open flame. The interior was designed by Evgenia Uzhegova, author of all of EVA's Moscow spaces, and the current version keeps to the same light-house aesthetic: natural fabrics, handmade ceramics from the exclusive La Palme collection, paper tablecloths on some tables as a nod to a traditional Greek feast. On the first floor is a monumental canvas by Alyona Rakova (Exantres), with the collection rounded out by works from Sofia Plekhanova, Tanya Kotenochkina, Boris Chaika, Dmitry Zhukov, and Regina Rzayeva.

In the opinion of our restaurant guide's team, this is the greenest EVA in Moscow — though the monstera and ficus plants in the greenhouse room look less convincing than olive trees would.

The greenhouse room is a story of its own: live plants in natural tones create the feeling of dining in a garden. Besides it, the restaurant has several separate rooms for family dinners, business meetings, or private events. There's a playroom for children. In total, 182 seats.

The menu carries EVA's traditional focus on meze and dips. Among the dishes that made it into the current lineup as the project's recognized classics: sea bass ceviche with tomato and lime, a seafood platter with crab claw, langoustines, scallop, and octopus, and a layered kataifi dough dessert with halloumi and yogurt ice cream. Brand chef Bakhtiyar Shamsiev describes the menu concept as a collection of culinary hits that guests have singled out throughout EVA's entire history.

The bar menu brings together vermouths, sherries, gins, and signature cocktails with herb, spice, and citrus accents. The Mediterranean character is kept up without unnecessary special effects: the drinks are put together to pair easily with meze, seafood, and oven dishes.

Our secret guests gave the dinner 9 out of 10 — for the strong lineup of EVA hits, a spacious room suited to different occasions, and an interior remembered for its oven, art, and abundance of greenery.
