Gimpel is a culinary project located on private grounds in Peredelkino. The dinner format is a home chef's table, where guest chefs prepare an original menu for a small group of guests. The project's initiator is Igor Lantsman. The restaurant operates once a week, on Saturdays, and seats no more than twenty people at one large table. The exact location isn't published; the address is shared only after a ticket is purchased.
The price of admission includes not just the original meal but a walk around Peredelkino with museum visits, and the gathering closes with a traditional tea ceremony.
Gimpel's space is a home, where gastronomy is joined with the atmosphere of personal hospitality. There are none of the usual restaurant fixtures here: a room with waitstaff, separate tables, or a menu to choose from. Everything centers on one large table and the guests' conversation with the chef. The homey setting and intimate format create the feeling of a friendly dinner rather than a formal event.
The menu changes every week along with the guest chef. It isn't published in advance and remains a surprise until it's served. Each chef chooses their own ingredients and spices, creating dishes that reflect their personal style. The set always includes meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.
